General Information
We rehearse on Monday evenings during term time at the Village Hall in Burton Joyce. Rehearsals start at 7.45 and end at 9.30. We have a short break part way through the evening which gives people time to chat and gives the committee the opportunity to keep members up to date with what is happening.

Members pay a termly subscription - Autumn £15; Spring £15; Summer £10.

The society is a registered charity and a member of “Making Music”.

Concert Dress
Male choir members wear a dinner suit with a black tie. Female members wear a long black skirt or trousers and a blue blouse which is purchased from the Society.

Events
As well as performing in concerts we also take part in a range of other events throughout the year, which help us to raise funds for the society or for charities and also fulfil our social remit.

For example in 2007, we had….

A jumble Sale; a sponsored sing (proceeds to Nottingham Young Musician of the Year); an evening meal at Woodborough Hall and carol singing at a range of venues. Click here for a calendar of our concerts

Our Accompanist – Heather FoxHeather Fox
Heather has accompanied BJCS since 1980. As the daughter of a church organist, music played an important part in her young life. She learned to play piano, viola and recorders. She performed piano solos in concerts and competitions in Yorkshire and on tour in Germany and played viola in Scarborough and Yorkshire Youth Orchestras.
Heather trained as a primary school teacher at Clifton College of Education, specialising in music. She was principal oboist in the college orchestra and continued developing her piano playing through working as a soloist and accompanist.
Heather taught in Primary Education for twenty five years holding responsibility posts for music which involved arranging and teaching music for recorder and guitar groups, orchestras and choirs. She directed many musicals including Joseph, Oliver, Creation Jazz, Jonah Man and her own composition The Tale of a mouse.
In 1992 she decided to concentrate on playing and teaching the piano. Studying with Mary Foulds, she passed two further diplomas: ALCM AND LGSM. Heather has taught piano in Burton Joyce for twenty eight years and at Nottingham Girls High School since 1993. She has performed many solos, accompanied choirs and vocal and instrumental soloists for examinations and competitions, and written several piano compositions.
